Taunton: Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmad when asked about the India vs Pakistan match after their loss to Australia in Taunton on Wednesday, replied, “India and Pakistan clashes in ICC tournaments are high-profile clashes and will try our level best to get a win over India in ICC World Cup history.”
The Indo-Pak clash will be played in Manchester on June 16 ( Sunday).
Pakistan has not defeated India in ICC World Cups yet and it will be one more chance for Sarfaraz and men to change history and put a brake on losing streak in World Cups vs India.
Pakistan suffered their second defeat and slipped to 8th on the World Cup 2019 points table with just 3 points from 4 matches so far. Sarfaraz Ahmed’s men slipped to a 41-run defeat after an ordinary effort in all 3 departments vs Australia in Taunton.
Mohammad Amir finished with his career-best figures of 5 for 30 and became only the 7th Pakistan bowler to pick up a World Cup five-wicket haul but it wasn’t enough as Australia posted 307 before restricting Pakistan to 266 in 45.4 overs.
Pakistan were in a comfortable position as opener Imam-ul-Haq and senior batsman Mohammad Hafeez stitched an 80-run stand for the 3rd wicket but following Imam’s dismissal, the former champions lost 4 wickets for just 24 runs.
Hasan Ali (32 off 15) and Wahab Riaz (45 off 39) came up with some big-hitting show to give Australia a big scare but Mitchell Starc cleaned up the tail to secure Australia their 3rd win of World Cup 2019.
