Rohit Sharma Breaks Plenty Of Records With Yet Another Century

India finished on the top of the table with a thumping seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka at Leeds.

India had to get 265 for the win. India chased this total in 43.3 overs with openers Rohit Sharma (103) and KL Rahul (111) notching up individual hundreds and reaching several milestones in the process.

With yet another century, Rohit Sharma breaks some records.

  1. Rohit Sharma scores joint most centuries for a player in a history of the tournament alongside Tendulkar. While Tendulkar’s six hundred came in 44 innings, it took Rohit just 16 innings to get to the record.

2. Hundreds scored by Rohit Sharma in the ongoing World Cup – the most ever for a player in an ODI series or tournament. He went past four centuries hit by Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara in the 2015 edition of the World Cup.

3. Rohit Sharma became the second Indian player to score hundreds in three consecutive innings in ODIs after Virat Kohli, who managed to do so late last year. Rohit’s last three scores read 102, 104 and 103. He became the second player to score three successive World Cup hundreds after Sangakkara in 2015.

4. Rohit Sharma equaled Aravinda de Silva (1996), Lance Klusener (1999) and Yuvraj Singh (2011) to win most Man of the Match awards in the same season of the tournament.

Rohit sharma is also leading run getter of cricket World Cup 2019.
